Good examples of sophisticated components that have to be particularly robust are armrests, seats, work and fitness mats, and changing table pads made of integral skin foam. The coatings used must meet requirement profiles such as flexibility and disinfectant, scratch and abrasion resistance. Up to now, these resistances were achieved with a 2K solvent-based paint and, if necessary, even in a 2-coat structure – i.e. consisting of a total of 3 components.

Our new water-based 1K coating sets new standards in terms of cost reduction and avoidance of the hardener as a critical component. The “pot life” is completely eliminated with our 1K paint. Our 1K coating offers a wide range of qualities that can cover flexible (Shore A 20-50) as well as semi-hard / hard (Shore A 50-100) foams, for example.

With our new paint system, very durable paint surfaces can be produced, and biocompatible and flame-retardant surfaces can also be realized, resulting in a wide range of possible applications.

Depending on the application and specification requirements, these 1K waterborne coating systems achieve up to 70-90% of the properties of a conventional 2K system. Especially for colored coatings such as blue, green or red, an additive can be added to improve resistance and prevent staining.
